IPS Impulse Powder System Range by Musterfire — IPS Impulse Powder System Range

Muster Impulse Powder System (IPS) is a self-generating Fire Suppression device containing a dry chemical powder which when electrically or thermally activated produces gases which increase the pressure within the canister. The powder liquidises to rupture tube, spreading the fire suppressant within the enclosure it is situated, to extinguish the fire.
IPS systems can be used in conjunction with other fire suppression systems such as SAG and Foam Extinguishing Systems.

Transferable Unit for Fire-Fighting (TUFF)

TUFF Transportable unit fire-fighting system by Muster

The Muster Transferable Unit for Fire Fighting (TUFF) consists of a cylinder with a bracket, aerator nozzle, valve and retractable 15m hose reel.
The TUFF unit is specially designed to provide fire protection for a range of applications where the risk requires a greater quantity of agent than a portable foam fire extinguisher.
The TUFF unit has a pressure vessel containing foam agent with a retractable hose reel allowing access to the fire area without the need to move the cylinder.
A portable fire protection system that is manually used to extinguish fires, on or around a vehicle or piece of machinery.

Muster System Components

SAG units
These are the self-generating aerosol devices that contain the solid chemical compound. They come in different sizes and capacities to suit different applications and volumes.

Foam Cylinder – Lay Flat
Available in 20L to 30L capacities, these compact cylinders are ideal for small machines with limited installation space.
Built to withstand shock and vibration, they integrate seamlessly with existing Muster Foam Fire Suppression Systems, ensuring robust protection without the bulk.

Remote Activation Device
Designed for autonomous vehicles allowing for the remote activation of fire suppression systems from a distance. Revolutionising fire incident management in autonomous vehicle

IPS Units
These are the self-generating canisters that contain the dry chemical powder and are available in 4 different sizes. They can be mounted directly within the risk area or connected to a pipe network with nozzles.

Cylinder Valve for Muster Fire Supression - This part sits on top of the cylinder containing the fire agent

Cylinder Valve – Engineered from a single piece of billet stainless steel. The valves come with either pneumatic or electronic activation.

Remote Actuators from Muster can be in the form of a button or a lever, for quick remote activation of the fire system

Remote Actuators – Allows the operator to manually activate the fire system. Manufactured in stainless steel, with either a push button or level design. Both designs support the pneumatic LOP versions or the electronic HDR.

MusterWire heat detection, wire with a special core, for detecting heat

Heat Sensing Wire – MusterWire, weather chemical and abrasion resistant bright coloured wire jacket. The core of the wire reacts at a certain temperature, activating the system.

Alarm Panel from Muster - Control, Monitor and Activate, usually sitiuated near the operator

Alarm Panel – usually situated beside an operator, enables the control, monitoring and activation of the fire protection system. The panel works with either LHD or LOP systems.

The Diagnostic Module can be used by technicians, to access the alarm panel system parameters

Diagnostic Module – Allows technicians to view real time information relating to the Alarm Panel parameters, system pressure, battery status, software updates and other information needed to maintain fire suppression systems.
The diagnostic data can be downloaded from the device onto a PC and viewed using the Muster Diagnostics Application.

1. Has a risk assessment and hazard analysis been done to evaluate all possible risks on the machine?
2. Look at the quote as some companies under quote a system just to get the job. (Typically, they increase the cost of replacement parts with useless nozzles, or a smaller cylinder to make their quote seem competitive)
3. Ask what standard has been used to do the installation and design. Some companies just install as they go and don’t consider all risks.
