TUFF
Transferable Unit for
Fire Fighting
The TUFF Transferable Unit for Fire Fighting, manufactured by Musterfire provides flexible fire protection in a range of applications. With a 15-meter retractable hose, fires can be addressed on and around nearby machinery. Unlike a fixed fire suppression system, the TUFF unit, when not in use, can be easily transferred to another machine.
These fire fighting systems are portable, making them ideal for tackling fires in remote or challenging environments.
Features and Benefits
- Larger container volume than a portable foam fire extinguisher for increased extinguishing capability
- Retractable 15m hose reel to address fires on or near machinery where unit is mounted
- Fitted with a nozzle designed to aerate and create foam blanket
- Nozzle can be inserted into machinery access points and small openings to apply foam directly
- Extinguishing agent is an environmentally responsible foam that is fluorine free
- Easily attached to machinery or support vehicles, facilitating swift transfers
- Offers surrounding areas protection from spreading fire
- The system operates using stored nitrogen pressure or compressed air, which can be easily filled by the operator
- No license required
The Muster Transferable Unit for Fire Fighting (TUFF) consists of a cylinder with a bracket, aerator nozzle, valve and retractable 15m hose reel. The TUFF unit is specially designed to provide fire protection for a range of applications where the risk requires a greater quantity of agent than a portable foam fire extinguisher.
The TUFF unit has a pressure vessel containing foam agent with a retractable hose reel allowing access to the fire area without the need to move the cylinder.
The foam aeration nozzle expands the extinguishing agent (a fluorine-free foam) into a foam blanket when aerated, effectively smothering and cooling burning material to extinguish flames. The TUFF unit comes in three sizes (38L, 66L, and 110L) and two pressure capacities (7bar and 13.7bar) to meet different user requirements. It is suitable for tackling Class A and Class B fires.
Applications
- Agricultural equipment where the fire risk is not specific to one area of the machine
- Large refueling vehicles with fire risk linked to the serviced machine
- Seasonal processing plants requiring more extinguishing agent
- Forestry equipment
- Mobile cranes
- Service vehicles
- Mining support equipment (LVs)
- Container Forklifts
